Photobucket optimizes your photos when hosting your images by automatically adjusting their size to the device used to view them. This ensures that your images will load quickly on the page.
What exactly does that mean?
In short, your images are not hosted in their original size. The sizes change based on the device from which they are being viewed.
- Photos being viewed on a desktop will ‘resize’ themselves to the dimensions 1920 x 1080 (Width x Height).
- Photos being viewed on a tablet or mobile device will ‘resize’ themselves to the dimensions 1200 x 800 (Width x Height).
If your photo orientation is in Portrait mode, the image optimizer will shrink the photo to a height of 1080 with the aspect ratio maintained unless the width or height is specified.
This happens so your photo maintains its quality while optimized for a specific device.
Remember that the image optimizer can return any size up to the photo's original size. It cannot increase the quality beyond its original upload.
