What are the supported file types and image size limits on the new Photobucket site?

Photobucket supports most commonly-used image and video files. If you're having trouble uploading a photo, making sure we support the file type is a great first step.

Supported File Types

  • Image file types supported – "jpg", "jpeg", "png", "gif", "bmp"

  • Video file types supported - “avi”, “asf”, “mp4", “mov”, “mpg”, “mpeg”, “dvd”, “vob”, “mkv”, “flv”, “swf”, “3gp”, “3gp2"

Notes:

- "bmp" files are converted into .png files.

- We do not support tif, tiff, raw, and swf file types.

Your file type must have the correct file extension and the internal file type must be one of the supported file types or your upload will fail. If you have a media file with an extension that is not on the supported list, use a graphic/image or video editor and try to convert it into a supported file type, then save it as the new file type, with the appropriate extension.

Image Size Limits

  • Upload size limit for photos - 50MB

  • Upload size limit for videos - 500MB
