What is the WhatsApp integration?
The WhatsApp integration is a feature that lets you automatically sync photos and videos shared in your WhatsApp group chats directly to the Group of your choice.
What does this mean?
Chosen WhatsApp group chats will be uploaded to a single, searchable place.
- No more manually sifting through your various threads to find old memories.
- No more downloading images from WhatsApp to your device and re-uploading them elsewhere.
- Instant cloud backups of your group chat’s shared memories.
This is useful for families, events, teams, or any group that regularly shares media in their WhatsApp group chats and want a way to keep everything organized in one place.
Can I set it up from my phone/the app?
The integration can be set up using either a browser or the app.
How do I upload to my Groups through WhatsApp?
Any images shared in your linked WhatsApp group chat threads will automatically upload to the chosen Group that the thread is connected to on Photobucket!
Images uploaded through WhatsApp will have an icon in the bottom left corner :
What file types are supported?
Only pictures and videos that WhatsApp lets you share through its platform. Documents, audio clips, or other file types are not currently supported.

- Images: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .heic, .heif

Video: .avi, .asf, .mp4, .mov, .mpg, .mpeg, .dvd, .vob, .mkv, .swf, .3gp/2, .webm

Size: Photos and videos up to 100 MB in size
- Length: Videos must be 30 seconds or shorter
Can I connect multiple WhatsApp groups to the same Group?
You can connect multiple group chats to a single Group. Head to the “Manage WhatsApp” page and for each group, use the dropdown menu to select the Group where you’d like the media to be uploaded.
Can I change which Group is linked to a WhatsApp group?
You’re free to update the connected Group at any time!
To change the Group a WhatsApp group is connected to, head to the “Manage WhatsApp” page, click on the three-dot menu next to the group name, then select the Group of your choice from the dropdown menu.
Will my WhatsApp photos and videos keep their original quality?
Anything uploaded through the integration will mirror what's been sent through WhatsApp and will not be covered by Photobucket's zero-compression guarantee.
Privacy & Control
Why is the Group I want to use not showing up?
If a Group isn’t showing up as an option to connect a group to, it means you aren’t the Owner of the Group. You can only connect groups to Groups that you own.
Will members of the WhatsApp group be notified that I linked my Photobucket account?
We will only notify the person who sets up the integration. WhatsApp does not send any group notifications when an external service connects to it.
All group members can download media shared in the group to their devices.
How do I disconnect my WhatsApp account?
To disconnect your account, you have two options:
- From WhatsApp: Go to Settings > Linked Devices, and remove Photobucket
- From Photobucket: Go to Manage WhatsApp > tap on the three-dot menu next to the heading, and select “Disconnect WhatsApp Account”

What happens after I disconnect my account?
If you decide to disconnect your WhatsApp account, Photobucket immediately loses access to your WhatsApp groups.
We will no longer:
- Receive new media sent through your groups
- Be able to view or collect any messages, images, videos, or other data from the group
What happens to my photos & videos after I disconnect my account?
Any uploaded media to your Groups will remain in Photobucket, even if you disconnect the integration. Nothing will be deleted from the Groups unless you remove them.
